Joseph Smith DC
Apex Energetics

This program is submitted for 2 CE hours from the CA Board of Chiropractic Examiners

This informative seminar, developed by Dr. Datis Kharrazian, will explore how the aging process in the brain is strongly influenced by various physiological mechanisms. As the brain ages, it can either develop greater function, called “positive plasticity,” or lose neurons, resulting in degenerative processes. Losses of function, such as memory, visual acuity, balance, hearing, digestive motility, creativity, motivation, handwriting, etc, will be presented.

Topics Include:

  • The earliest signs of an aging brain
  • Qualitative and quantitative neuronal differences between several common, age-related neuro-degenerative conditions
  • The effects of neurotransmitters and neuro-degeneration on mood and brain function
  • Clinical jewels and insights

Course Outline:

  • Hour 1: An introduction to and review of the basic physiology and clinical relationships to specific conditions, the associated clinical concepts regarding the aging brain and the influence of neurotransmitters, and when to refer for further consultation and/or evaluation
  • Hour 2: Understanding the physiology and associated clinical conditions regarding inflammation and oxidative stress on the brain and when to refer for further consultation and/or evaluation. Recognizing the associated clinical presentation and symptomology for these imbalances and when to refer for further consultation and/or evaluation
